About Jona

Jona has called Troy home for over 20 years, embracing its vibrant community and making it the foundation of her life. She pursued her education at Russell Sage College for Women, where she earned her MBA with a concentration in social responsibility. She started her family here and helped support her husband’s small business downtown for nearly a decade before its successful sale.

In 2023, she played a pivotal role in raising awareness about lead contamination in the city’s water supply, after learning her child had lead present in their blood. She has since been a relentless advocate for community action and safe drinking water for all Troy residents.

In her spare time, she’s volunteered to help keep Troy beautiful and connected – supporting trail work and cleanups at The Narrows, organizing the Eastside Neighborhood Tag Sale, and moderating the TroyKids Google Group, which connects more than 300 parents and caregivers to share resources and support one another.

Her dedication to fostering a brighter, safer future for our community drives her decision to run for City Council in Troy’s 5th District.

As your next City Councilmember, Jona will be a passionate and visionary leader, committed to helping Troy thrive through open, honest communication with constituents. She’ll hold regular office hours and keep the community informed via newsletters and active social media engagement.

In her current role as Manager, Administration and Finance at the Upper Hudson Library System, Jona oversees budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting. She will bring this strong financial expertise to City Hall, ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent wisely and always in the best interest of the community.

Troy’s District 5 deserves a dedicated champion. Vote Jona Favreau for City Council in District 5 on November 4, 2025.

ON THE ISSUES

Priorities

Troy is a city full of potential, but too often, our neighborhoods are overlooked when it comes to investment and progress. As an advocate for community-driven change, Jona is running for City Council to ensure that District 5 gets the attention and action it deserves.

Her campaign is centered on real solutions that will strengthen our neighborhoods, improve public spaces, and make local government more accountable to the people.

Open, honest communication is essential for effective governance. Troy thrives when trust is built, every voice is heard, and residents are engaged in decision-making. Jona is committed to providing clear updates on local government actions, expanding opportunities for in-person discussions, and ensuring every resident has accessible ways to connect and share concerns.

Transparency goes hand in hand with fiscal responsibility. Taxpayers deserve accountability, and Jona will advocate for stronger budget oversight to ensure public funds are invested wisely in infrastructure, safety, and essential services. By prioritizing both open communication and financial stewardship, she will work to build a more transparent, responsive, and fiscally responsible Troy.

Every resident of Troy deserves safe drinking water, and that begins with removing lead pipes from our city’s infrastructure. As your City Council member, she will hold the city accountable for securing additional grants to replace lead pipes throughout our community. Jona will ensure that the city efficiently allocates resources, implements a clear plan for replacement, and conducts regular, accurate water quality testing. Ensuring safe drinking water is not just a health issue—it’s a basic right, and she’s committed to making it a top priority for our community.

Kinloch Park is more than just a patch of green in our district; it’s a space where neighbors gather, families play, and the community comes together. She is committed to completing Kinloch Park in a way that reflects the dreams and needs of our neighborhood. This project isn’t just about adding amenities—it’s about creating a space that works for everyone. One of her first priorities will be listening to your ideas through community forums and surveys to ensure every resident’s voice is heard.
